So why would He subject Himself to death - an awful criminal's death by crucifixion? Because of His great love for each one of us, Jesus died as our substitute - He paid the penalty for all our sins - "God showed His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 Most people think that they are not so bad... at least they think they are better than some people... but the truth is: 1. We were all born spiritually DEAD, separated from God. 2. We were all born blind... in spiritual DARKNESS. 3. 4. We were all born DEAF... we couldn't understand the Bible and didn't really want to hear what God had to say. We were all DECEIVED by our arch enemy (Satan). 5. We are all DISTRACTED by the things of this world. But God has GOOD NEWS for us... "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16 Everlasting life is a FREE GIFT, not cheap, but FREE! Jesus paid the entire penalty of death for all our sins. You can have His gift of eternal life... by trusting Him.
