CHRISTMAS... what's the big deal? Christmas is in full swing... Macy's Thanksgiving Parade made it official! So what's the big deal about Christmas (beyond the glee of the merchants and the excitement of kids)? The fact is, no other announcement has ever been made by God with such splendor and glory... think of the angels that appeared to the poor shepherds near Bethlehem... or the bright star that appeared to the Magi in far-away Babylon. God wanted the world to know that the birth of His Son was a really big deal... good news for the whole world! # 1 Jesus was born to REVEAL God to man! "And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14 #2 Jesus was born to REDEEM and RECONCILE man to God! "But God showed His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 # 3 Jesus was born to RESCUE mankind and REVERSE the curse of sin and death. "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil." 1 John 3:8 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain." Revelation 21:4 Jesus came to give God's gift of eternal life to all that will believe in Him and ask Him to save them! "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever will believe in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life."
