PEACE on earth... good will to men? When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the angels declared - "Peace on earth, good will to men." Luke 2:14 Really? Peace on earth? Two years later King Herod killed all the two-year-old male children in Bethlehem in his attempt to eradicate any king that might try to take his throne. And two thousand years later... there is no peace on earth. So, where can you and I find this peace that the angels proclaimed? #1 Real peace must begin with each of us finding PEACE WITH GOD. "Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5:1 This peace with God is made possible because of Jesus' death on the cross where He paid the price for all our sins. This is called redemption... He bought us back from the curse of sin and death! He also reconciled or brought us back to fellowship with God! He even declares us righteous when we place our faith in His finished work on the cross! #2 When we have peace with God by asking Christ to save us, we can then experience the PEACE OF GOD. "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 # 3 God also wants us to experience PEACE WITH ONE ANOTHER! "If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men." Romans 12:18 Are you having a challenge with getting along with other people? Take a good look at how this is possible by reading Galatians 5:22-26 and Romans chapters 12 and 14. #4 REAL and LASTING PEACE will one day come to this world when the Prince of Peace returns and makes all things new.
