THE PRICE OF LOVE A Romance Novel by April Knight April Knight's childhood was hell. Her mother was a schizophrenic alcoholic with a violent temper who often beat April. April's brother died in infancy from unknown causes. April was told her father could be any man in town and she spent years trying to find her biological father. April was bullied without mercy at WPHS (Class of 1961) and it was a rare day that didn't end in tears, bruises and abuse. She discovered she had a talent for writing and by the time she graduated from WPHS she'd had thirty-five stories published in magazines. April is an award winning author. Her first book CRYING WIND has been continuously in print forty-six years, has been translated into seventeen languages and sold millions of copies world wide. The book CRYING WIND is in Braille for the blind and the book is on tapes and CDs for the disabled. April had donated hundreds of copies of her books in Braille to the School for the Blind and has donated hundreds of tapes and CDs to various schools and hospitals for the disabled. She has had a newspaper column for twenty-five years, has had over a thousand stories published in magazines and has had over 60 stories published in the "CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL" books. THE PRICE OF LOVE is the 67th book written by April Knight, (aka Crying Wind, aka Linda Stafford, aka Linda Davison). The story takes place in Kansas 1890. A five year old orphan boy named Buckshot wanders into town, his clothes are so full of holes they look like they've been shot with a shotgun. He has no memory of his past or his name or family. The town blacksmith takes him in and lets him live in the stable. When Buckshot walks to the park, he sees a beautiful young girl with blue eyes and long blonde curls and she's dressed in white lace. The very moment they meet, it is true love for both of them. Unfortunately the girl is Rose Terrell, the five year old daughter of Matthew Terrell, one of the richest, most powerful, brutal men in Kansas and Rose, his only child, will be an heiress. All Buckshot owns in the world are five marbles he found, two red, two blue and a brown one with a chip in it. He gives all the marbles to Rose and even though she is only five years old, she knows the value of the marbles. Buckshot has given her all he owns and to her they are more precious than rubies. The children fall in love, meeting secretly until they are in their teens. Mr. Terrell can never permit his daughter to marry a poor boy who lives in the stable and has no name. He hires two men to shoot Buckshot but will the men follow through? April divides her time between Seattle and Honolulu. Her books can be purchased on Amazon.
