Herholtz, began helping people with hearing loss back in 1957 when he first opened a Beltone franchise in Grand Rapids, Michigan At that time, over 80% of appointments were conducted in the home with portable equipment and analogue hearing instruments. In contrast 99%of all hearing testing is done in an office setting and all hearing aids are fuly digital. Prior to opening his Beitone office Grandpa "Ed was a police officer. Wiliam F. Herholtz S.. joined his father in business in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1963, becoming a Beitone dispenser in 1973. After visiting Colorado in 1978 he told his family he wanted to live and do business here. In 1984 he sold his Grand Rapids franchise and moved to Colorado Springs with his wife Alice and their four children. In 1990, Bill and Alice won the prestigious Presidents Cup from Beltone This award is the highest Beltone bestows on any of its dispensers. Bill and Alice retired from Betone in 2009 with over forty years of service. Bil joined the practice in 1997 after receiving his Master's degree in Audiology from Arizona State University. After graduating from Cheyenne Mountain High School here in Colorado Springs, Dr. Herholtz attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where he earned a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration. After that he spent a short time in the financial services industry before joining the family business. He then put his new career on hold and went back to college to become an Audiologist. Upon completion of his education he joined the family business and the Betone family. Later, he went on to eam his Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Florida. He then re-tooled and re named the practice to First Cholce Audiology and operated under that name for the next decade before seling the practice. In 2014 Dr. Herholtz decided to re-enter private practice as an Independent Audiologist without any outside ownership, With his education and history in the field Dr. Herholtz feels Apex Audiology can provide unsurpassed hearing care combined with personalized service from local people who care!
