Dear Community, In 1982, Prospect Home Care and Hospice became a home care and hospice agency dedicated to serving the Ute Pass Region with medical care for rehabilitation and the hospice team for comfort and dignity when curative treatment was no longer viable. For 36 years, we came into your home and were at your bedside. It was an honor. From serving a population of 9,000 to 25,000, we adapted to many changes over the decades. From increased health care regulations to copious small business requirements, we kept our systems efficient and effective to continue our delivery of high quality care. Before paved roads, before computers, before a local hospital, we were your access to care When one serves a small population in a rural geography, the reimbursements established fail to meet the higher costs of time, travel and lower volumes. Never in our history of providing nursing, therapy and our hospice team has an insurance company, Medicare, or Medicaid fully reimbursed the cost to provide our skilled staff in your home. Prospect is paid less per visit than it costs to get a plumber, electrician or furniture delivered to your home. The difference between what an insurance company pays and our costs has always been made up by grants, donations and fundraising Prospect Home Care and Hospice has also accepted hardship, charity cases without any insurance or ability to pay, as it was our non-profit mission. Many of you have been instrumentai to our success. Prospect has always been a Community Team. From your bake sale donations, Lights of Love ornament and memory light sales, Johnny Jump Ups and daffodils, office volunteers, patient care volunteers, businesses that gave us discounts, our Medical Director, Altenate Hospice Physician, Board of Directors over the years...the number of people who made Prospect succeed is over a thousand. It took a village THANK YOU The continuing challenges of copious regulations, diminishing revenue and increasing expenses is under control. What Prospect cannot overcome is the shortage of skilled, professional home care registered nurses. Without a depth of expert independent nurses, we Rare unable to provide the quality care you deserve at this time. It is time to be thankful for our 36 years of success. As more medical businesses are now available in Teller County, we are pleased the community has increasing healthcare options. While we will not admit Home Care and Hospice patients at this time, we wil continue to assist our Helping Hands clients and provide Bereavement Support while evaluating future options. We could not have done it without you. Together we helped thousands of families in our community. A history to be proud of. Thanks to all of you that make our mission possible; we will continue to serve you in every way we can. The Board of Directors, Prospect Hone Care & Hospice, Inc.
