AIMING HIGHER USAE GREAT HAPPENINGS AT THE U.S.AIR FORCE ACADEMY CADET PURSUES HIS DREAM OF BEING A PILOT AT THE AIR FORCE ACADEMY Brown was recently invited to speak at the 43rd Annual Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals Convention and Career Fair in Los Angeles. He spoke to more than 200 young people about his personal journey to become a pilot and Air Force officer As a child in kindergarten, Alexander Brown had a big dream: become a pilot. With his family's support, Brown never wavered from pursuing his childhood ambition. When he was 10, Brown's parents bought him a flight simulator, which he modified to include pedals and three computer monitors. At 15 he began taking flying lesson and by 17 had earned his pilot's license. Adversity, he said, would be part of their journey, just as it was part of his, but that their hard work and dedication to their dreams would pay off. But Brown didn't want to be just any pilot, he wanted to be an Air Force pilot. "Attending the conference was life-changing for me," Brown said. "I have always been in a minority in the [flying community] because of my age and my skin color, but this conference sort of reminded me that there's a broader community that you may not have ever met that is out there rooting for you and Brown was accepted to the United States Air Force Academy where he became a member of the Academy Precision Flying Team, competing in intercollegiate flying competitions. Today, Cadet 1st Class Brown is looking beyond graduation in 2020 to Air Force pilot training, with a view toward becoming a test pilot wishing you success," he said.
