Lewis-Palmer School District 38 High School Fall Musicals Staff Spotlight: Dr. Jessica Miller Palmer Ridge High School and Lewis-Palmer High School will both present their annual musicals in November. Dr. Jessica Miller, the school psychologist at Bear Creek Elementary School, is entering her fifth year in this position. She celebrates milestones every day with staff and students. One of those celebratory situations arose with a student who demonstrated a lot of anxiety. After Jessica worked with the student,All shows are open to the public the student was able to attend school with less fear, transition from one activity or class to another, and participate in class activities. Eventually, the child was able to sit in the cafeteria with peers and cat lunch.Palmer Ridge High School The student now works on identifying their own emotions, practicing emotional regulation strategies andwill present problem-solving techniques, and enhancing social skills. This student went from being afraid of entering the school building to loving school and looking forward to being there each day. Jessica became this student's favorite teacher because she talks about feelings. "Catch Me f You Can" on November 1-3 at 7:00 When not working with students, Jessica attends consultations with teachers, does classroom observations, communicates with parents, and assesses students needs to determine if they qualify for services. Dr. Miller also works with the Child Find Evaluation Team and sponsors Kiwanis K-Kids. The K-Kids program allows fourth, fifth, and sixth graders opportunities to do community service projects such as Pennies for Patients and the Harvest of Love food drive, welcome new students, and assist around the school. Can As a Monument native, Jessica attended Lewis-Palmer schools beginning in kindergarten and finished upon graduating from Lewis-Palmer High School.
