About

Few things in life are as powerful as photographs...

A single image printed on paper can evoke forgotten memories or strong emotions. In advertising, it has been proven that carefully chosen images are far more compelling than words. In much the same way, fleeting moments of our own lives become priceless when captured as photographs.

Mike's Camera operates three imaging superstores in the Boulder and Denver areas that have become the regional favorites for photography industry professionals and amateur camera buffs alike. The success of the business is based on stocking a complete selection of photo and video cameras and other picture-taking accessories, as well as offering a full line of photo processing services, including the latest in digital cameras and digital camera printing kiosks. Additionally, it is integral to the philosophy of Mike's Camera to back the product and service offerings by an expert, friendly staff.

Since its humble beginnings in 1967, Mike's Camera has had a history of outstanding customer service, which resulted in wide recognition in both the photography industry, and the Boulder and Denver community. This recognition culminated with the coveted "Best Camera Store" award from Photo Trade News, the Photographic industry's trade publication for the year 2000. Additional awards have been repeat performances from the Boulder Daily Camera, Westword Magazine and The Boulder Weekly's "Best of Awards" for "Best Camera Store", Eastman Kodak Company's "Best in Class" award for specialty camera stores, and the "Entrepreneur of the Year" award of Distinction in 2001 from the Boulder Chamber of Commerce.

Mike's Camera is unique in its belief that each customer-service employee must be fully versed in a broad range of photographic knowledge. As such, each customer-service staff member is required to qualify as a Certified Photographic Consultant (CPC), and then maintain that status. The CPC program, developed by the Photo Marketing Association International, is a comprehensive educational and testing program encompassing photography, digital imaging, and many aspects of photographic technology. A sister program, the Society of Photo-Finishing Engineers, provides similar education and testing for lab technicians handling the various aspects of photo processing. This program requires the strictest educational standards in color theory, print consistency and overall image quality. This comprehensive employee training ensures that every Mike's Camera customer receives the most knowledgeable service in the industry possible, resulting in better picture-taking enjoyment and greater overall customer satisfaction for all of our Boulder and Denver clientele and our nationwide customers who shop our Internet superstore. It also rewards our staff with the recognition commensurate with their completion of the training programs, and a higher level of empowerment and employee satisfaction, as the staff feels competent to meet each customer's individual needs.

As for the production of our lab staff, this training, combined with the most advanced and highest-quality film processing equipment, color management technology and quality assurance controls, results in pictures that have markedly superior color, quality and consistency, and archival characteristics.

Mike's Camera's multiple-award winning Legacy photofinishing starts with the highest quality materials available to the photographic lab environment. We start with Kodak Royal Generations paper in crafting each and every print originating from our lab, whether printing from digital media or film. Digitally optimized Fuji Crystal Archive photo paper is the finest quality photographic paper in the industry, and delivers eye-popping, high-definition images, as well as the most archival photographs to preserve your most cherished memories.
